Jackson is a registered Therapy Dog (RTD) insured and certified through Pleasure of Your Company Therapy Dogs, Inc. (POYC) 
http://poycdogs.org/.  His primary role is an official volunteer Hospice Therapy Dog with Hospice Community Care and Celtic Healthcare, Inc.  Jackson is also a certified Reading Education Assistance Dog (READ) through Intermountain Therapy Animals (ITA) and member of Furry Tails Reading Partners.  Jackson has been approved by POYC to work with the National Guard and as a Disaster Stress Relief Dog. All services offered through POYC are subject to existing regulations and prior approval.  POYC is a non-profit organization serving Pennsylvania and all of Jackson’s services volunteer and free of charge (hugs, ear scratches, and belly rubs are gladly accepted however).

clicking here.  Information regarding why we chose to test and register with POYC, opposed to other therapy certification programs, as well as why we chose therapy work in general can be found by clicking on the links to the left titled Why POYC and Why Therapy Work.

Jackson is available to provide AAA / AAT for the following:

  • Hospice patients, family, and medical staff
  • Various hospital programs and inpatient units
  • Assisted living centers & nursing homes
  • Individuals and children with special needs
  • School programs 
  • Furry Tails Reading Partners program
  • U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA hospital, disabled veterans, etc.)
  • Children of recently deployed military personnel

Please note: therapy dogs have been selected and trained to provide therapeautic benefit to those whom they visit through a veriety of situationally appropriate methods generally outlined by the organization or facility at which the services are provided.  The therapy dog handler has been trained to work with the dog in accomplishing this task.  Unless otherwise stated, the handler has not been trained and is not certified in any medical or educational fields. The therapy animal and handler are a team; for the safety and security of the animal, staff, and patient(s), at no time may the therapy animal be separated from the handler.  For more information regarding medical research of the benefits animal assisted therapy provides, click here.

Jackson is registered & insured through Pleasure of Your Company Therapy Dogs, Inc. (POYC).  All therapy services and programs are subject to approval by POYC.  Inusrance coverage is limited to general liability and typically does not extend to structures or facilities.  Unless otherwise stated, facilities are provided by the organization and/or person(s) requesting therapy services.  Professional supervision is required for all school visits, some children's vprograms, and certain other instances.  Licenses, registration, proof of insurance, health, child abuse, & criminal background records available upon request.
